Data paralysis

I just got data. Not just any data, but a motherload of data. The amount of data that makes you look at it and think "Did I really order this or did they send the wrong thing" like if 400 pairs of socks showed up at your door after a night of drunken online binge shopping.

I'm fucking giddy about it all, but on the other hand, I have no idea where to start. Like a contestant in the biggest burger eating contest, I can't even pick this up, let alone find a place to sink my teeth in. This is not something someone should get at 4:30 on a Friday afternoon. It just isn't.

  1. Celebrate the arrival of data and then start early tomorrow morning.

  2. Nah. Let it percolate through your brain while playing with the wee one. Because it'll take at least a couple days for proper percolation of this much info to take place, you should take the weekend off. After all, once you dig into the data, you know you won't be able to stop...

  4. Stash it away until Monday. We can all wait until then for your analysis of cheeto size and shape.

  5. Unfortunately, there is zero chance of not working this weekend, but I don't think I'll be able to get to these data until Monday.

And it's not so much Cheeto size and shape as it is their volume and aerodynamic properties. If they weren't so variable my life would be so much easier...

  6. I was in the same place Thursday afternoon at 4pm. I waited until yesterday to go through, and it was still there waiting for me yesterday (and I only made it through about half of it). I'm sure yours will wait until Monday, if you can! :)

  7. Like the great philosopher Pliotolomus (or some like that) once said..."Data are like strawberry shortcakes. We crave for some, but wonder what to do with a shitload of 'em".
